New Patients
Our team pride themselves on helping to create an enjoyable and calm experience for each of their patients. From the moment you set foot within our premises, we’ll ensure you feel welcome, comfortable, and completely at ease.
For those who experience anxiety or stress when visiting the dentist, you can rest easy knowing that we put your needs first.
Not only do we have an array of in-house comforts to help pass the time, but we also offer a variety of solutions to help nervous patients have a more positive experience.
What to Expect on Your First Visit to DHCA
When you visit our friendly practice for the first time, you will be warmly greeted by our receptionist staff before being invited into the waiting room. While seated in the waiting room, there is a variety of current magazines to keep you entertained, along with refreshments such as tea, coffee, and water. When the dentist or hygienist is ready to see you, they will come to the waiting room and introduce themselves, before leading you to the consultation room or treatment room. While your initial appointment may vary depending on what you required at the time of booking, most of our new patients see us for a check up and clean first. Because we pride ourselves on being as professional and thorough as possible, you can expect such an appointment to take approximately an hour-and-a-half long, broken up into two separate consultations with both your dentist and hygienist. During the first half-hour with your dentist, your mouth will be examined for any signs of concern to ensure your oral health is on the right track. The final hour of your consultation with be spent with our dental hygienist, who will perform a thorough clean and hygiene assessment. During this time, our team will also take intra and extra oral x-rays to gain a more comprehensive overview of your oral health.
Assisting Patients with Dental Anxiety
Our practice is a calm environment, helping those who do experience dental anxiety to feel more at ease as soon as they walk in the door. We also have a private consultation room in which we can talk to nervous patients, away from the presence of machines and instruments. We are always here to answer any questions which may arise and are often commended on our ability to offer patients with clear and honest explanations.
We understand visiting the dentist can be a stressful and nerve-wracking experience for some. This is why we take the time to establish a long-term relationship with each and every patient, building trust and helping them overcome any concerns.
Additionally, we offer local anaesthetic to ease a patient’s pain or discomfort. Pain management solutions have come a long way in dentistry, so patients are often surprised by how comfortable they feel during and after a procedure.
